272 sr1 tab and trim indicator question

272 sr1 tab and trim indicator question
so my 89 272 sr1 has trim gauges no tab indicators so I’m thinking about putting a set on. Fiend someone that’s parting out a 88 311 that has what I need. My question is. Will the length of the cables that go from the gauges matter that it’s on s 31 when it’s on my 272. Sorry if I confused any one. If I do this right I’m going to attach a picture.

If I am not mistaken the 311 and 272 have the same distance from dash to transom so it should work just fine. If you call formula I'm sure they can tell you with certainty one way or the other. I could be thinking of 292 though
