Default Difference between salt water series and regulat ob

what are or were the differences between those models? What is different between the 2 ?
if there are differences, why would the new 400 R not have the salt water serie while they are sold so many times for salt water use?

just a question because im curious ! Thanks!

They're outboards. Nobody needs to know anything about them except how to turn the key and push the throttles.

And how to send them in when they blow up.
That and having to deal with a measly 400 HP per prop.

The difference on the 3.0L motors (mid ‘90s-mid ‘00s) was the tilt tube and stickers. Blue sticker motors (saltwater) had a stainless tilt tube, red sticker motors didn’t. Blocks, thermostats, heads, impellers, etc, were the same.

Blue sticker motors were easier to find in XL (25”) and red sticker motors were mostly L (20”) shaft.

As for the 400R- it’s a Verado. Those things have been pushing fishing tubs around for years in salt.

I know winterizing my Optimax is a an absolute pain. I have to stand next to the boat, remove the cowl and 3 bolts to get to the plugs, and shoot some oil into the cylinders. Took almost 30 minutes. Unbearable! Lol

8 years Platinum MPP. $50 and the key to the hitch lock when it grenades. I’ll do my part and put “CWD” and my telephone number on a service tag myself.

And with a measly 250hp, I can’t pass you, but I can pass a few gas stops. 3.1mpg average, and I’m usually:
A: no wake speed
or
B: 50-60mph.

Get yourself into an O/B boat and watch stress lines and the bags under your eyes disappear!

You’d look good in a 33 Active Thunder with a pair of 400Rs, sir. Personally, I think a 29 Progression or 29’ AT with twin 300Rs would make anyone look 10 years younger.
