Default Best tips and tricks that made your life easier?

The latest best thing that I’ve done is putting stainless studs on the end bolts of the exhaust to hold the headers. The gaskets drop right in and installing the remaining bolts are a cinch instead of trying to hold 30 pounds while searching for a bolt hole.

Any other tricks youve found over the years and bloody knuckles?

When changing the shift cable bellow on a Bravo we use..........what has been named the "butt plug", so you don't have to remove the cable just side the bellow onto the butt plug and slip it over the threaded end. Take a couple of minutes.

If you happen to update your wife/girlfriend, introduce her to the boat and tell her "The boat was here first".

Dental barrier tape to protect any surfaces you don't want dirtied by greasy hands etc. It also works very well for masking off during painting or protecting from other dirt and debris. Peels off like scotch tape and leaves absolutely zero mess behind.

I don't have studs but I do have a couple long headless bolts just for that.

Wanted to add about the shift cable bellows and new cables --- 2 tricks to install shift cable bellows - one is use glycerin as lube to install it --- this is what volvo penta uses for their impeller installs and hard to install hoses.

after using the glycerin next - installing the bellows - U pancake the shift cable bellows as small as you can in between your hands. Then install it on the cable - still compressing it like a pancake using your fingers.

IMO if your doing the shift cable bellows it is always wise to do the new cable with it.

And doing the cable is not hard once you make the homemade fish from an old inner core. Made that fish 28 years ago and they free to make --- use the inner core of the cable your are taking out for the fish.
