Especially if it is a 30 year old Wellcraft! These things didn't stand a chance with all the exposed wood on the stringers. I thought I bought one with a solid hull, but it gets worse the more I dig. Are you removing the cockpit floor as well?

I have thought about doing that, weighing raising the center of gravity v.s. The cost of short lowers to gain a little speed. Those that have raised the drives, what were the performance increases , was there an adverse affect on the center of gravity?

My '86 Panther is dryer than my newer 2000, so check them all. I guess the real question is how wet and what is an acceptable moisture reading. Had a friend that called Formula about a boat he was to purchase, and I believe they said anything above 30% they would start worrying about it. I thought that was a little high.

As I cut into my transome at the bottom and I to the center stringer, water came running out. I would assume my moisture content wins.
The smaller stringers locates on each side on the center , the wood is missing, just some left over strands of what I assume to be cellulose.
I have the wood wood cut and fitted for the transom. Wrestling 3/4 ply into the boat and back out a few times was fun. I then coated them with epoxy with a slow hardener to let it soak in.
