There is a 223 with a pair of 225 opti’s down in the Stewart/ Salerno area. It seemed to handle well. The boat just doesn’t look or sound right. Some things are just Sacrilegious, like Beer with fruit in it.

There is a 26pc in Texas with a pair of old 2.4 merc on it. In my opinion it ruins the nice swim platform. A pair of twin outboards will weigh more than the single big block and out drive. Also they would transfer more weight to the rear. I'd think it would fork up a good boat. But that is just my opinion.

Closer than you think.
I am doing one on a 25’ Checkmate.
Twin 2 Stroke o/b’s are a 100 lbs heavier than a single bigblock I/o.
I just did a float test of mine and you can’t tell the difference at rest.

I would add:
many of the 24’s were twin small blocks.
My motors and bracket would save 600 lbs from same boat w/twin small blocks!
Those cool platforms on those boats (they are gorgeous) are bolt on.
A good glass guy could turn it into a twin O/B bracket and it would look factory.
My 25’ Checkmate is way smaller, lighter and narrower than a 242 So effect would be way less on that hull.
Many people poo poo projects just because they’ve never seen it done before.

Chill man?
Matters not to me what you think of my build.
I posted it only as an example of a similar conversion being done.
I also made a couple of very valid points in re to the posters question.
My boat is much smaller, narrower and lighter than a 242 and appears to be working fine.
Knowing they built a bunch of twin 242's tells us they are good at carrying weight.
The comment about the 242 platforms and the realization that its a bolt on........, made a light bulb go on.
I always wanted a 242 and now I want one even more
Also hilarious to me that Ive been on here forever and know that 95% of the readers on here are anti O/B yet now when I log on, what do I see on the front page over and over again
I do have thin skin for negative comments towards someones idea that may be ......., different......., not done before....., etc.
Ive spent my life asking lots of questions, listening to all the experts and then trying it anyhow and they almost always work.
Ive also been spoiled that I can provide the labor and most parts/supplies are either free or at cost so if it doesnt work.....
I could write a book about what did work after being told it wouldnt and what I was told would work, that didnt.
Comical really.
So my opinion and thats all it is, I think a twin O/B 242 done right, would be killer and I would love to see/own one.

Yeah, my post last night was kinda grumpy. One too many cocktails in the sun maybe. Hope you will allow me a do over. The truth is that I have read every word of your threads and have found them interesting and informative. I am a firm believer that “It’s your boat, do what you want.” I’m also a big fan of guys that do their own work and take pride in it. Apparently I’m also a little over opinionated about old boats needing to rumble. “sac religious “ may have been a bad choice of words too. It’s nice when guys think outside the box a bit and post stuff that different. I hereby retract my poo poo and wish the OP the best on his project. Thanks all, Roscoe
