Default Looking for Lakes with beaches in North Texas or with in a few hours drive

Hello,

I recently moved to North Texas and we are looking for lakes that have beaches we can anchor to. coming from California, we are used to Havasu, Mohave ect. The only lake that I know for sure that have beaches is Texoma. Can any provide any more data for lakes in Texas or Ok that have beaches to pull into.

Thank you in advance.

Eagle Mountain has a small island/pavilion. Nothing like Texoma...

Welcome to Texas. There are probably a few in Oklahoma. It's the red dirt/clay that creates the sand overtime. Most all lakes will have at least one man made beach.

Lake Eufaula in OK
Lake Ouachita in Arkansas is a good one worth an extended trip.

Default Lakes north of Dallas

What about Lake Lewisville, Lake Lavon and Lake Ray Roberts?
Are they good boating lakes. I am looking at moving to that area. Texoma is only an hour from that part of Texas.
They look good on the Google maps.

I've not boated on either of those lakes. Lake Lewisville is a big lake, but it's very close to the city so you get all that comes with it - inexperienced boaters and jet fleas, cops, strippers, dead bodies, etc. you get the point. Your not going to find long stretches of beach. Most of the lake's mentioned don't have much for shorelines that are ideal for boating or beaching so they anchor and tie up with other boats. Out of the three Lake Lewisville probably has the most boating infrastructure in terms of marina's and facilities to handle bigger boats.

Possum Kingdom Lake is worth the drive, about 90 miles west of Dallas. I launch at The Cliffs Marina. Deep water and protected. Only down side is trailer parking is a mile away top of the neighborhood in the secured, patrolled grassy lot/land up close to guard shack.

This came from Texas parks and wildlife
zebra mussels invasion
most of the recreational lakes are infested now
another reason not to leave your boat tied to a slip
For very long.....😁
