Default Merctrans with KC Shotgun cooler

The shot gun cooler, from KC marine, takes up a lot of space in the trans fluid reservoir of the Merctrans. Should I still try to use the specified quantity of fluid or only fill to the full mark on the dipstick? I know that I cannot consult KC marine any longer, so I'm hoping someone here is familiar with this issue. Thanks.

I had them in my transmission and I always ran the recommended amount of fluid in the trans. I think it was 2 quarts but I would check the repair manual.

Thanks. I wouldn't like reducing the amount of fluid.

I was considering a remote cooler option and adding volume to the trans fluid.

A temp and pressure gauge are also a good idea.

I also added temp and pressure gauges . The pressure is a definite must. At least if your running along and start to see the pressure drop u can back off before u completely tear a transmission up. I have new gerotor pumps and seal kits to repair them if interested I also have the tools to rebuild those trans that are for sale.

I heard that upping the pressure helps a lot.

The trans pump also has issues. Is there merit to having an external pump, that also cools? Also adding extra capacity at the same time.

I was able to find the old KC Marine website on Wayback Machine web archiver.

There is a lot of good info on there about how to treat the Merctrans, and how to get the most out of them.

Are you able to find actual web pages on the Wayback website?
