Hose from transom pickup to water pump
#5
I used 1-1/4" Shieldsflex II wire reinforced hose for engine to strainer and a stainless ball valve at the pickup. I am paranoid about that large of an opening below the water line. I used the best T-bolt clamps I could find, I would have used two per fitting but there wasn't room on the fitting. I found that the inside of the hose needed a little wipe with brake clean (damp cloth, not soaking) or I couldn't tighten the clamp enough to not rotate the hose on the stainless fitting.
For the inter cooler pickup I used Earls Pro-Lite 350 (rated working pressure of 350 psi) the pickup was -10 fitting and I didn't want adapters to go to pipe and back to -10, so my shut off is at the strainer. however I did put a blob of 3M 4200 on the outside of the cap to reduce the risk of it coming off (not like that's even a remote possibility, but I can be a little anal). Both the Shieldsflex and Pro-Lite are secure with ss/rubber clamps so they don't abrade against anything.

Thank you! Im a little paranoid about having an open hole below water line too lol. Never was until I had a family, when I was younger didn’t cross my mind. Anyone else put a stainless ball valve right at pickup? I like that idea.

it important to use marine intake hose on all thru hull fittings its an insurance issue there's a coast guard number and date on the correct hose most often has a blue or green stripe if you guys have enough horsepower to exceed 120 we glue them on with the best silicone i have ever used its called the right stuff by permatex it is a truly amazing product we double t bolt clamp everything plus safety wire the clamps the water pressure can exceed 400 pounds in a hurry at high speeds! change your fuel fill line every 10 years that also has a date and coast guard number
