Default Quicksilver verses Merc gear lube

Is there any difference between the two except price.
i just purchased 5 gl of the Merc HP + lube and shows up looking different from the past but same part number.
Looks and smells the same as Quicksilver 90W.
Am I paying more for just a name?.

Quicksilver can be sold by non authorized resellers and etc. Mercruiser brand only by authorized marina’s and resellers.

Quicksilver offers everything (same part) that Mercruiser does, and more part #’s too.

$30.00 more for the Merc label. Now that is BS.
I wonder who makes it? Grapevine says Lucas oil.

Old label, same part number. I ordered this and got the black/white label without the + in description.

Probably Warren distribution or someone. Been discussed here a bunch. Anyway, only made for Merc.

The Quicksilver High Performance is $10 a quart at Walmart if that helps.

That's the old stuff. The new "latest and greatest" is 85w-90 from Mercury Racing.

Isn't that the old green oil?
