A sad Top Gun, are 'movie star' boats worth more?

Just saw this listed on powerboatlistings...

Bit sad to see a nice boat badly neglected, would you buy this on the chance of stardom?
I certainly wouldn't.

I saw that posted today and thought it was bought from the production company a month or so ago. It was listed a couple months ago, and someone on here said it was sold. Looks like the buyer had second thoughts maybe after seeing it in person.
35k for it isn’t horrible. But yeah. It’s ROUGH.

At 35K it would be hard to get hurt as long as it wasn't a sunken boat/bad transom or stringers. But with any older boat in need of work you need to do the reverse math. What is it worth in nice running condition then deduct the sale price. At the number left do you think you could get it into nice running condition for that price. If not, it is still overpriced.

No but could you imagine buying this "movie boat" then putting in your time/money to restore it only to realize what kind of movie it was!?!?!?

Since were being serious the type of "Sundance" movie it was in wouldn't make a difference to me, by the time it was restored it would be long forgotten and if not I give zero f*** what other people think.
For me at $35K it's already a losing proposition anything after that would just make it a bigger loss but that just me other folks might enjoy restoring it and finding all the problems with it.
Cheers!

The background is a negative to me, but the price is right if it could be confirmed that it’s structurally sound. The other restoration details are tedious and time consuming but not that scary. There are several projects much bigger than this documented here on OSO that started with much less.
Go to talk to a builder about laying up a bare hull and cap for less than 100k and see what he says.
