Default Software Guru's gotta question....

I just bought a new Sony GRX560 laptop. It running a Windows XP home edition operating system.

I want to be able to work on excel spreadsheets and microsoft word documents. Do I have to upgrade to Windows XP Professional or what?? I just don't want to waste my money on software I don't need.

What do I buy???Also, who has the best prices on what I need to buy?

Thanks!!!!

Do I buy XP professional or XP professional office. My understanding is they are different. They also sell a XP professiona O.E.M. version and a upgrade version. (scratching head?). How much should it cost? I've seen around 200 for just plain jain xp professional.

????????

Will they run excel and word documents?/

Thanks

Yup XP does not have any programs like that associated with it. Office has your spread sheets and Word with it. If you still have the disks from your last computer you can load those onto your new one. You MAY get a compatibility warning with your old version of the Excel and Word. You may have to go onto the net and download a updated version or a "fix" for it.

29 Scarab
you can load your old Office software on the new Xp box
it will work fine.
Do not upgrade to Office Xp unless you have money to burn
