Default Transom assembly rebuild

I'm breaking down my transom assemblies to repaint. Does this bolt just screw out? I does not want to move. I haven't put too much heat to it. I have been getting water intrusion and I believe it's leaking up here. Is there seals that need to be replaced?

There’s a nut on the opposite side of the arm,
if that is off, the bolt in the tiller arm should come out
of the arm.

You’re going to find the steer shaft rusted/ pitted and the
steering shaft seal and bushing needing replacement

The nut is off. I'll get the torch out.
Thanks

It appears the steering in pin is the same between the alpha and bravo.

Several companies make a stainless pivot pin that's cheaper than the steel Merc one FYI. No more rust!

Ditto on JR marine. Give him a call. Very helpful. Has stainless steering pin and everything you need to put together and stop the leak.

I did the JR marine fix and didn't have to remove the engine or transom assembly. Both of mine now have stainless steering pins and new seals. And now external hydro steering. The JR fix worked well for me, cheaper/easier than pulling the engine, and allows future repairs. I got tired of the play between a 20 year old steering cable + this (poor) design.
