Phil the Official Name for that mixture was "Rocket Fuel"

The race was delayed for 1 day waiting for the Italians and with idle time on our hands something had to happen.

Out of nowhere, a plastic barrel was produced and then a plastic bag to be used as a liner was inserted......next a bottle of this, and two bottles of that, and maybe 3 or 4 bottles of something else, and then some more of this, that, and everything, was added.

A very loud gathering was heard all the way back to Miami, as the mixture was stirred slowly and then quickly and then slowly again, according to some ancient recipe and

Finally.......the tasting of the long awaited "Rocket Fuel" was begun. Amazing that some crews could walk the next day, but they did walk and they did race in those giant seas coming in from Antarctica.

And with Phil M on hand, there even exists a filmed recording of this event. / Along with that interview of John Crouse, by the "Taxi" driver in the heavy winds of the day!!
