Hello,
I recently bought a boat with this engine and drive. I want to ask maybe who has set like this? Need information where the problems are. Because after removing the engine I found the R&D damper destroyed. is it a weak spot?
Engine: Marinediesel/bukh VGT450

Damper/coupler is always a potential weak spot, especially if alignment is not perfect.
I would send photos and info to R and D Drivetrain Products and get their input.
I've done driveline repairs/upgrades for construction equipment, and the only ones that are truly bulletproof are the Cat type with the center core supported on roller bearings with the viscoelastomers solely used to absorb torsional pulses. Couplers that rely on the damping material to maintain concentricity are prone to failure if there is any misalignment..
