Default Does Boat insurance cover props?

When a boat is kept in a driveway or the street in front of home, and someone steals the prop will your insurance cover the replacement?

I am always unbolting the prop whenever I come home with the boat. Is it necessary. To be honest, would any crook even think about the value of a prop or even know how to remove it?

for the cost of a prop, is it worth the hassle of filing a claim, the rate increase for filing a claim etc etc ...????

Default prop theft

Many policies exclude any theft including the entire boat unless the boat is in a secured area . Read your policy !

You are far more likely to have the entire outdrive stolen than just the prop, and is in fact a much more common theft. Takes an experienced thief just a few minutes to get one, about as long as it would take to steal the prop.
Interestingly, I just got back from a trip to Buffalo, NY and was sitting on the beach at Lake Erie, looking at a boat storage facility across the highway...many of the boats there had the outdrives removed for storage, many had just the props removed. Most were completely covered in shrink-wrap.

Yeah, stealing a prop, never seen it myself. But I wouldn't mind grabbing your out drives if you have twin bravo ones or better. 6 nuts with a cordless impact, 2 guys and GONE.

my deductible is close to the price of a prop, so you might as well just tell them someone stole the drive anyway.

**please note this is for comical reference only. I am not personally going to risk going to jail for a few grand. a few million we can talk.

Technically, probably yes, but most deductibles are about the same $$ or higher than a new/used prop.

1) prop lock
2) store with the drive down
3) back the boat up to a solid wall (not a fence that can be cut apart)

Thieves will steal anything they can. Prop locks are a deterrent for sure. On my very 1st boat that I use to tow, I stopped at a truck stop for fuel, pulled over to the side, went inside to get some snack and use the bathroom. Came out and my convertible top and prop were gone. Was inside maybe 10 mins tops. Bastards

I have 13 Wyze cameras around the house. love them, love them, love them.

UPS paid me $475 for damaging my yard. Amazon a bunch as well. Without the camera's I'd have no clue and no chance of recovery.

I can't say enough good about these little things. Real time notifications, cloud (and local) recording. Night vision.
