Default Prop pitch vs rpm 24p t0 23p

Typically, when going from 4bld 24p to 23p what would be the RPM increase?
Currently Hydromotive Q4X

thanks

If you're talking the same model of prop, generally speaking maybe 200 rpm more if everything else equal.

Yes, same prop and only change drop in pitch to 23. I'm currently at the low end of RPM window 4700 and would like 5000 or closer to that. 496HO w/(4600-5000).

thanks

If the slip remains constant, then I would say 24 / 23 x 4700 = 4904 rpm. If you turned the 4700 rpm in the summer, then the 4904 rpm with the 23P could become 5000 - 5100 rpm in cool fall or spring weather.

1 inch of pitch reduction equals about a 200 rpm increase using the exact same model of prop

I called Hydromotive, first new props are way behind getting made. Stated props are sourced by foundry. He stated best to do is have prop tuned/lab which should get the 100-150rpm without increase slip numbers because doesn't change cup. Currently have 12% and if I would go to 23p would be losing about 2mph mid range which I guess would increase GPH since would need to increase RPM to maintain MPH. So I'll wait to winter.

It should not increase GPH just because the rpm’s are higher. The throttle is still in the same place and less pitch puts less load on the engine and the engine spins faster
