Took a ride a few weeks ago in a Hustler Talon 377 with a friend who was considering buying it. The Talon was rigged with Mercury Racing 575scis with BMax Bravo Drives. I’ve ridden and raced several offshore cats along with a few smaller tunnel modvp including Chriscat, Shadow, Skater, Cobra and Jaguar.. I was shocked by the experience. What I noticed above all is that the Talon did not tunnel hop at ANY speed and felt very comfortable at 35mph as it did at 115mph. It was obvious the hull could handle much more horsepower.
In comparison to the current twin engine MTIs Doug Wright etc which are true cat hulls the Talon 377 has a center pod the entire hull length which enables very fast on plane with the ability to ride on plane at a low speed. It was very stable in 4 to 5 footers with the hull asking for a bit of positive trim. Calmer waters the hull tracked and turned with confidence while leaning inward into the turn. I was blown away. My Buddy bought the boat and Im thinking buying a new one in the future.
Gary Armingtons original design was a splash from no other I have read. The advantages of this hull is the Talon 37 racing heritage along with the quality build by Hustler today. I don’t know if an outboard model is offered but I believe this hull would be a perfect candidate for triple 450Rs. No need for a center tab as used by others.
My friend who bought the boat is so stoked and sold on this package he stated anyone who is seriously interested in purchasing new or used he will offer a test ride. If interested PM me. We are in Northern California

Gotta agree. Very good friend owns one with Blown KE power and dry 6's. FANTASTIC boat! Super fun. Love the rear cabin too. People trip out on that thing. It's a runner too.

Henry Abidi at Performance Marine sold a bunch of them to customers here in Nor Cal in the early 2000s. They work well in smoother waters, just don't expect them to run with any true cats (Skater, MTI, etc.) in the rough. The raceboats had the centerpods removed and worked better, but still didn't perform as well as the Skaters they raced against back in the '90s/'00s. I have two friends with ex-raceboat Talon 37s - Rick Bowling (Gone Again) and Doug Thumser and they really like them. They're definitely an affordable alternative to a used Skater/MTI, as you can find them for well under $200k in good condition. #6 drive 37s are a little tougher to find, as a lot of those boats were sold with 525 or 575/Bravo 1 packages, which didn't hold up at all. Definitely look for a #6 drive boat. The neighbor behind my house here in Discovery Bay still has his all white 37 with Merc 900s/#6s (centerpod boat). Happy hunting in your quest for one!

If we could find a 36 Skater in good shape with #6 drives, we'd be all over it, but they hold their value so well it makes it difficult. If your neighbor ever wants to sell his Hustler, please have him let me know!

I would recommend you call Henry at Performance Marine Specialties - (925) 757-8285, the owner of the all white one behind my house is a customer of his and could possibly be selling soon. He is elderly and doesn't use the boat any more, I only see his son taking it out any more. If it isn't for sale, Henry would be a good source for any other possible 37s for sale, as he was a dealer for several years and has recently sold some used ones for past customers. You can tell him that Dale Rayzor recommended you contact him.

“everything for sale” Dale! 😁😁
seriously though, buddy flips boats. He’s owned every major performance boat brand and size multiple times over. He’s owned this talon the longest of all of them simply because he really doesn’t want to sell it He just loves it and what it is couldn’t be replaced for what he sales price would be. But as I recall the number he threw out there wasn’t unreasonable. Be worth it to give him a call.
