How can you manually open an engine hatch?

If the hydraulic lift would cease to function, how can you open the engine hatch if it’s in the closed position with everything still attached essentially locking it closed? I keep looking at mine and can’t figure it out for the life of me.

I have a 5" deck plate fitted on the outside hatch right above the bolted hatch lift arm ...remove plate reach in remove bolt then hatch can be pried up.
Don't know how others do it, but works for me..........sorry can't help.

I guess your Cig isn’t this obvious or you wouldn’t be posting……
My Donzi had twin support rams and could be unscrewed from out side. Anything under the hatch cushions?

Had a Sea Ray Pachanga years ago, had a deck plate behind the rear lounge backrest. Had to pull the backrest out then get my arm through the hole and I could pull the cotter pin out of the ram attaching it to the hatch.
Pretty sure a Cig owner will provide a definite answer…..🙂

If its an older Cigarette and the pump isn't located under the rear seat. Like my mistress was back in the day, you can power it back through the switch in the dash. I have done it before. Also many of the rams used have a sleeve that moves up about an inch or 2 and sometime you can slide a grab tool and reach the pin. All these suggestions should solve your problem. Good Luck

Thanks everyone. Mine is opening and closing fine. I just wonder what would happen should it ever fail. I'm really surprised there isnt a manual "override". It must not happen very often because I couldn't find a single thread about someone not being able to get their hatch open.

The sundeck on our PowerQuest just lifts up. The lift is just that: a LIFT. If it were to stop working, or the battery dies, I can just raise it by hand. It's not all that pleasant to do, but I can do it.
Thanks. Brad.
