Default Taking away your rights to buy performance parts.

The RPM bill, GOING THROUGH CONGRESS, may trickle down to the boat industry. This bill prevents you from converting a street car into a race car. It will prevents you from purchasing add-ons like a turbo or supercharger, performance exhaust or a performance cam to your car, truck or motorcycle.

From the website....The EPA has announced that enforcement against high performance parts—including superchargers, tuners, and exhaust systems—is a top priority.
If you like adding performance parts to your boats. You most likely have added them on to your vehicles. The form on the website is simple. Adding your name and address, the website automatically links your representatives. You can read the letter, pre-made, before you send it. Screw the EPA...

Like the EPA gives a F what you think.

Just like NOAA creating offshore speed limits, it doesn't matter what you think, peasant.

Federal letter agencies do as they please. They don't answer to us.

That's a defeatist thought. One thing politicians want, is to stay in politics. One or two phone calls or letters isn't going to sway them. But a lot of phone calls and letters will. Most people own a car. Many that have cars like performance parts. And like ALL jackass bills, it trickles down two other activities.
If you don't think you can help, Don't. Don't sign. Don't complain when the hammer falls.....

When you stop standing up to them is when they win.

To clarify:

I signed that when I first learned of it over a year ago. June of 2021, to be exact.

My statements don't mean don't sign and don't complain.

My statements mean don't think that anyone cares that you signed. These letter agencies are not elected by the people.

I would assume that things like the green new deal are part of this right? The EPA will find fault with modifications and they will cite that its bad for the environment...

Ive had some friends in the industry get some big time fines the last couple years for any emissions defeating activities with regards to ecu tuning. Scary what they are doing to small businesses

RPM Act Passes House Committee

The House Energy and Commerce Committee passed the Recognizing the Protection of Motorsports (RPM) Act (H.R. 350) last Wednesday, Dec. 6, by a vote of 33-20. The legislation would clarify that it is legal under the Clean Air Act to manufacture, sell, distribute and install race parts that modify the emissions system of a motor vehicle used solely for racing.

The need for clarification came about after the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) claimed in a July 2015 Proposed Rulemaking, that the above activities, as well as converting a motor vehicle into a racecar, were illegal under the Clean Air Act tampering prohibitions. EPA never finalized the rule but the agency believes their interpretation is correct and enforceable.

The next step for this legislation will be the House floor. A companion bill in the Senate (S. 203) is under consideration by the Clean Air and Nuclear Safety Subcommittee of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee. While a hearing occurred in the subcommittee last month, a vote is yet to be scheduled.
