Default Sea Strainer best practice location

30ft Cobalt Condurre

BBCs with transmissions powering ASD6 Arneson drives.

The engines get pushed right up to the front firewall, blocking access to the sea strainers.

I've heard the best location for strainers...is high enough to fill them with water...but low enough the cover can be removed without flooding the hull.

Moving Moving them to the transom area, they'll have to be quite a bit higher than they are now. I was thinking of fabricating a mount that would enable an adjustable height...I'm not sure exactly where the waterline is going to end up.

Looking for some wisdom on how to approach this.

Definitely install a valve on the inlet side of the strainer.

Roger that, I have nice big stainless ball valves on the inlets.

With the relocation, I think they need to be supported better for sure.

On that note, what is the best water intake system on a hull water harvest?
