Cleaning up my B&M 420s and hoping to find out what the spec'd grease us for the rear roller bearings.
Does the Merc Racing HP #3 service manual have anything to say on the 420 maintenance?
There is a lot of varied info on rear bearing grease on blowers. Want to use the correct one.
What front case gear fluid is gtg?
I was just going to use Amsoil Marine Gear. 75w90.
I've heard 2 schools of thought on front gear oil. Either sealed or vented. That it may puke out etc.
I'll put in a sight glass for the level plug.
The Blower Shop suggests some mods, I'll get to them next off season. Larger bolt threads for gears. Machined front bearing retainers. Sleeved rear bushings. (Their not hardened and the seal eats them up.)
Thanks,
Art
