Default Looking to buy my first powerboat, F 311

Hello everybody,

I’ve been looking for this type of a boat for couple of weeks now. Our current boat is Botnia Targa 30 (Finnish brand and considered a quality boat), but we thought a different type of boating might be for us. Anyhow, have zeroed it down on 311 Formula by now. Oh, and I’m writing from Finland 🇫🇮.

There is one 311 for sale not that far away that is said to be equipped with hp420 engines. Boat is -89 model and looks clean. Don’t know much more at this point. I was wondering if somebody here could help me with identifying these sterndrives. It would be interesting to hear what you think of this engine / drive combo.

Apparently I can’t post pics yet. Need 10 posts under my belt first.

I would share a link to the ad, but can’t do that either.. It’s been sold in Sweden (blocket dot se), but that boat is listed like 400km’s from where I live. Sound like a good first run 😅

Thank you for any opinions!

311 is a great boat all around, did you manage to buy the one that was for sale near you?

Thanks for the interest, but no. Haven’t been able to sell the old boat.

That’s too bad, out of curiosity, what does a 311 sell for over there? Rather I guess I should say, what was the asking price? I have to think running a boat like that in Europe is pretty costly just in fuel alone.

Prices vary a lot. In sweden they are 25-40K€ and in finland maybe 35-50. But they don’t seem to sell that well.

here the season is so short and weather usually lousy, so people use their boats a lot less. Then it doesn’t matter that much how expensive it is to drive it. Or that’s what I think.

So prices over there are actually somewhat equivalent to what they are here in the US. Interesting! I ask because I follow different collector car markets and it’s interesting to see the delta between US and European values
of certain cars.
