Default Crank Trigger Solutions

As with anything......this has been a project. Through the evolution of my PSI engine builds I've discovered that any of the current market solutions for a crankshaft ignition trigger while seemingly, in fact are not for marine applications. Sure MSD/Holley have a flying magnet solution, but the trigger holder uses the accessory holes on the block that are being utilized by the sea pump and alternator. There is a OEM solution, but that only works on a gen V and VI engine as it requires the use of a late model timing cover. So, I defined the parameters of what I needed:

Trigger sensor bracket that bolts to the timing cover like a timing pointer.
Utilizes a OEM produced hall efect sensor for economical and availability reasons.
Adjustable to set air gap and accommodate for snout flex/wobble.
A ferrous trigger wheel. No magnet inserts to reduce parts and increase reliability.
60-2 configuration to offer the highest revolution for individual cylinder tuning and dual use with a TFX or Plex PLA 2000+ combustion analyzer.

This is what I have come up with:

What is the OEM solution for the Gen-6. I am putting MSD Crank triggers on mine and need some way to mount the sensor.
I have already purchased my MSD crank triggers for both engines. Do you offer a sensor bracket for the gen-6 engine?

Tim,

I do have a bracket for the Gen V and VI just like the 525 sensor holder. The issue I think you might have is that it will be fixed and non adjustable. It would be useful with a Daytona Sensors Ignition box however. I can put a kit together for you if you think this is a viable solution for your needs.

You can use the Holley 60-2 amd mount the trigger somewhere else. You can use the crossover for instance. When you do this you will need to change the holley setup to match the location (degrees). Hard to explain in writing but you can use it.

Holley no longer offers their 60-2, and beyond that, it did not have a register for the id of the balancer nor a register for the accessory pulley. It was actually a pretty crude piece. I have one on the shelf and it was going to be more work than it was worth to weld it up and machine it to make what i needed and still need a second wheel for the other engine.

The water crossover has no viable location to mount a trigger without massive alterations. Even then, you have attached the sensor bracket to the crossover that is also holding the supercharger belt brackets.

Trust me when I say, I exhausted all other options. LOL

I guess I misunderstood the question. I thought you were saying that the bracket didnt allow you to use it because those accessory bosses were being used already. I was only suggesting that you can mount the sensor anywhere you want but you just need to do a custom configuration within the Holley. My bad, didn't realize you had all the other issues. Best of success!
