Default South Florida Beware!!

If South The Florida is important to you, please read this article. We sold our properties in Cape Coral a couple of years ago due to the horrible water quality coming down from Lake Okeechobee. It was dirty, it stunk, and it killed allot of fish and other wildlife. If the EAA project is derailed, instead of getting better, the Cape To oral/Ft Myers area will continue become more of a cesspool.

A couple months ago I brought my boat 35 miles up river to the yard and it’s like crude oil going through the locks

So many people do not realize how polluted the water is coming down to CC/Ft Myers. "They" say that the water is stained due to the mangrove roots but that is BS. Once you get to redfish pass the water is not stained.

It is a real problem and big sugar does not care. Ok one day we will wake up and it will be irreversible. It is almost criminal what they are doing.

I believe mostly fertilizer run off besides manure. The fact that we still put up with the sugar cane burn off is insane . The right wind and we are choked out by the smoke and have to deal with the ash out there.

We can buy sugar from Cuba cheaper than you can grow it here but government subsidies keep it alive.

The pollution down the Caloosahatchee if from agricultural runoff, but worse yet, over the years the Everglades has been narrowed down and instead of the water slowly making its way getting filtered through the glades, it is concentrated into the Caloosahatchee. It is a bit like a swimming pool at your favorite swim up bar. Everybody knows that everybody is pissing in the water, but there is enough water to dilute it that you try not to think about it. Take that same amount of piss and put it into a smaller tank and NOBODY would think of getting in it! Cape Coral and Ft Myers is a bit like that small tank. Concentrating the pollution is a huge problem.

Any remediation will take years and years. If they set back the EAA project, it will cost south Florida 20 years, well beyond the time that most of us have to enjoy it. If made public, it would destroy both real estate and tourism, at least in the CC/Ft Myers area.

Prices have already come down here in Naples, our condo appraised for 300 2 years ago , many have sold for that or more in our community the last 2 years.

Neighbor next door has a 3bedroom end unit as opposed to our 2 bedroom interior unit listed for 295 the last 2 months and not getting any bites. That unit was 350-370 all day long a year ago as we are the most affordable development within miles of the beach

We are in a 3 story building and the new mandates made by Desantis since the Surf Side collapse is killing condo owners every where in Florida. It’s complete BS.

US sugar subsidies are crazy - that's also what driving all the high-fructose corn syrup use.

You have the right to express your libtard political views, but there are many better places to buy sugar from than the oppressive communist regime in Cuba.
