Default Mercruiser water pressure relief valve or CP performance

I need to install water pressure relief valves

Trying to decide between Merc 863208A3 which is about 500.00
or CP performance 128-5000/5002 with 1285001 tee cost about 140.00
Is there any advantage in using the Merc part vs the CP performance part given it will equate to a 700.00 difference in cost for both motors

Thanks

I installed the mercury valve when i put a Imco lower unit on. Had too much pressure. Then my pressure would swing wildly like from 10 to over 30 lbs. I even changed the spring to less tension. Put the CP 3/4 valve in works great!

Did you tee the valve in after the oil cooler before the power steering cooler or run it off the sea strainer

I have used both after the oil cooler so you have easy access to them. The price would dictate my selection

yeah I’m leaning to the cp performance valve

how about thoughts on the psi setting

500efi raw water cooled xr drives with low water pick ups

25 or 30 psi max?

they were pegging the gauge at 35

the mercury one works awesome. use it after oil cooler. The nice thing about it being on the "push" side of the pump is no risk of it sticking and sucking air.

The downside- the merc racing pressure relief valve is soon to be NLA.

So would the cp valve also work on the push side of the pump if I tee it in the same place.

Yes. I have mine after the cooler before the water enters the block.
