I’ve been looking for a 1993 38 TG that has I believe 425/454 carburated Mercruisers. What are they 400 hp a piece? Is that too little? I’m not looking for crazy speeds, but it should get on a plane fast and shouldn’t feel underpowered. The seller said top speed were somewhere around 60 mph. Is that believable?
Thanks!

around 60 with that power? Yeah i can see that. Those boats are heavy...your looking at 10K lbs easy.
My old 30' Scarab supposedly weighed around 6400 according to the factory specs....i weighed it once at a truck stop and it was closer to 8K....with healthy mid 450hp BBC's i got her up into the low 70's when i finally got it propped right.
You'll just have to test drive it to see how it feels with the current power.

TRS have Transmission so you loose 1-3 MPH. They were also mounted very conservatively . Bravo setup would be a couple miles per hour faster, maybe 63. Bravo boat has more prop selection. Of course it all depends on how healthy the power actually is.
The one I rode in also was spinning the props in which was a speed benefit. Just some things to think about
