Default New style Bravo Engine alignment

I replaced my transom assembly and the inner plate was a little different where the bell housing rests. There was rubber I was told not to run those spiral and felt washers. In order to get engine aligned I needed .400" worth of spacers between the bell housing and inner plate. I was wondering if anyone has run into this issue? Is there a updated bushing I should be running with the new transom assy that might make up that .400". I appreciate any help

You should be running the new bellhousing bushings with the new transom plate. The new bushings have a knurled surface where contact is made with the transom plate.

My understanding is that if you are using the old bushings, you should remove the rubber covers on the new transom assy, and instead use the spiral lockwashers and felt washers.

I just did the same thing new transom assemblies with the rubber on the transom plate
and the old bushings on the flywheel housing

used the spiral lock washers but not the fiber washers

every thing lined up, Didn’t seem like it at first but the gimbal bearing was crooked. Had to play around with the alignment tool to get bearing straight

It hammered home, just crooked?

Or you were moving the bearing inner race within it's movement to align it for the tool to mate up?

First one seemed tight at the top no grease on the bottom tight in and out

Had one of the mechanics at the yard look at it
he moved the tool around a little bit. Told me try that and it slid in and out easy

second one went in tight gave couple taps on the side of tool and slid in and out easy too

From what I can tell the spiral locks set the height
rubber is same height as fiber washers

there was another thread on here and I believe they did the same thing
