Hey guys, I changed all my gauges out from the stock livorsi to autometer pro comp marine. (That look awesome BTW) I am now having trouble with the temp gauge. It was reading high on my first trip out but no alarm. It was pretty consistently reading around 210 but I used an infrared thermometer and temps were reading well below that, (in the 170 range) so I thought it could be that the original temp sender was not compatible with the new gauge so I ordered the autometer temp sender. It has a single pin for a one wire connection. I changed that out and gauge still reading 210. I tried unplugging the wire off the sender and no change on the gauge, still reading 210 even with the wire off. I then unplugged the other sending unit that is a two wire connector with an actual plug. When I unplugged that one the alarm went off and gauge went to 0. I thought that the sender with one wire was for the gauge and the two wire sender was for the ECU/ECM. What is the sender with one wire for and do I have something screwy going on. Any insight would be much appreciated on what is actually going on

I thought Autometer used a different temp sender. I'd try that route.

Single connector temp gauge sending units are just sinple thermistors. The resistance chamges with temperature. They have charts on temp and resistance. Use a multimter to check the resistance of the sending unit, confirm it's correct.

If your gauge wiring has any extra resistance anywhere, it will skew the gauge readings.
