EC 502 starter issue

Hello All,
I have a new EC502 with cats, when I start the engine, the starter continues to run for a couple of seconds when the ignition switch is released.
This does not seem normal, it all stock with a stock MerCruiser ignition switch. Does anyone else have one of these engines to confirm this is right or wrong.

Does the starter actually continue to run, or is it being dragged by the engine? It could be a mechanical failure or setup shortcoming, rather than electrical. Just speculating.
