Default Gear oil concern

Drained Bravo 3X for first time on boat I bought this summer. Fluid was dark in the center and tan on the edges. Gold dust throughout the fluid and same situation on both drives. 550 hours and 8.2 Mag HO stock.

drives have typical reverse clunk, smooth shift going forward using throttle only. Light clunk forward with joystick.

thoughts?

Looks like water on the oil. Better have it taken apart and refreshed before it goes boom. Cheaper now than later.

How did the drain plug Gaskets look? Could be as simple as water getting past those, but probably a good idea to pressure test the drives.

Is that corrosion all around the plug?
or a bad picture
Does boat sit in water or is it stored on dry land
you could pressure check it
Flush it
Recheck

I specialize in custom built bravos that withstand some hp and I obviously do factory rebuild, width, and without upgrades. If you’d like to have me service it or need any other help feel free to call or text me. 508-631-4784.
