ProCharger Guys, another question...?
#1
I’m getting ready to do the dirty deed of tapping into my oil pan for the oil return line. The PC manual states to punch a hole either 1” behind the 4th bolt hole (on the pan) and 3” down OR punch a hole ½” in front of the second hole 2-1/2” down. Both options are on the port side.
I’ve attached a picture of the bottom of the motor on the port side and am trying to figure out the correlation between the two mounting options. Do they specify those spots for particular reason (windage, down draft, etc..) or are those just spots that they will clear the internals when punching the hole?
Any other heads up would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Dave

Hope the picture works...

Don't tell me you didn't use re-usable gaskets???? Shame on you!! No matter, find the area mentioned on the pan, be sure it clears the oil cooler, motor mounts, hoses, etc. Procharger is concerned only with keeping the return above the oil line in the pan. Do not make the connection below the oil level line!!! Pull the pan if you have too & fill it with the proper QTS. of water to find the level.. Also make sure you can get an angle to where you can get to the fitting to replace the hose if needed.
Rather than welding the fitting in the pan, weld a bung so a replaceable fitting can be screwed in.......

I currently have whipple's, Talking to Dustin he suggested that I circulate engine oil to help keep the blower drives cooler. Current set up does not circulate oil. I said that I didnt want to tap oil pan for the return, he said that they don't. They return it to the valve covers. Just a thought, dont know if it would work in your application.
