Question 2.5's onConcept 30 C/C?

I am looking at purchasing a new Concept 30 center console and was told it runs 68 with twin 225 Merc's and was just wondering what it might run with 2.5's instead. I am new to outboards and was just curious if there is any downside to the race motors? Thanks for your help.

phastang,

I live here at Offshore Only and I encourage you to ask questions here.
I also have outboards and want to show you a link to a place that you can learn a lot.

These people are outboard crazy!

Also look in the Classifieds here on OSO under MiscV for a nice Concept for sale.

You don't want the 2.5 race motor. Maybe a Promax 225X or the new 250Optimax. Let me know I might be able to get you a deal on a set.

I too am looking at the 30 concept - nice ride.

I am told that with T250's the boat should reach the 70 mark - haven't heard of them rigging one with 2.5's.

Not sure who you are talking with re: the Concept, but you may want to call Mike Flanigan at Lightning Bay Marine in St. Pete - 727-822-4470. He's putting a package together for me that is pretty trick - going with custom drop bolsters with the throttles in the extension of the center arm, etc.

Spent some time with Luis and his crew at the Miami boat show - they really do make a quality product.

Someome on our lake had a 28 with 250's that would run over 70.
Jan from OSO has riden on it!

Thumbs up

The 30 Concept is a nice boat. If speed is what you are looking for go with the new 250XS's or the 300X's. Speeds with the 250XS's is easily over 70mph on GPS and 300X's could easily be 75mph+. I don't recomend 2.5's, they require a lot of maintenance. 300X's will give you more on this boat then 2.5's. I can custom build anything you want.

Give me a call, Mike Flanigan @ Lightning Bay Performance Marine, 727-822-4470.

Thanks for all the tips guys-sounds like I need some 300's on this bad-boy to make it scream. How are these on fuel?
