I would think he paid way less than that for them. Why does the Navy get rid of them?

Payton,
I wouldn't be surprise he payed less than that for the entire lot. I have heard about these auctions for these pipes and they usually sell real real cheap.

Sorry, no I don't. I was talking with a fellow OSO on the East coast that would go to these govmt auctions and would see these pipes from time to time. My guess is they start to get questionable and are replaced. I can't speak for these that are posted here but a year or two ago there was some guy with a batch that was selling them and some were rotted through or cracked. If you are thinking about these make sure you inspect/test them.

These are take off because of timed obsolescence. In other words, they have served their purpose and we are replacing them before they fail and ruin a engine.

I'm not sure if those are military headers or not. He has pressure tested them which is more than what the other guys were willing to do. I just wonder if it was some guy with tripples that didn't like the headers. For some tested headers, $1600 is a pretty good price.

Are yoiu sure they are Navy take offs? I see a set for a tripple engine boat there......and the guys from WI....i think he jast may be parting something out...the guy that used to have them listed on eBay, i think is from SC....and the last time i spoke to him he was not willing to pressure test the exhaust
