Question Another Poll: Which Synthetic Drive Oil Do You Use?

Ok...here goes my first attempt at posting a poll. I know this issue has been discussed at length but I thought it would be interesting to see how many are using each brand. Feel free to post comments about the poll. As for me, I am trying Redline Shockproof HEAVY this year for the first time. Just ordered online from http://www.myoilshop.com/ $28.79 shipped to my door for 3 quarts.

i used the merc hi-performance lube for 3 years without any problems. I then switched to Amsoil, and the drive let go a quarter way through the season. i was just running at cruising speed and the upper let loose. (i was running a drive shower too).

I bought a Teague drive from an APBA racer, and he told me that he tested the Amsoil in his F2 boats. While the Amsoil was a "faster" oil (GPS testing), he always has premature drive failure. Since then he's been using Redline Shockproof, he's had no drive problems. He recommended using the Merc oil over the Amsoil if i didn't want to run the Redline.

So i kind of point my drive failure to the Amsoil, and am currently running the Redline.

I recently bought a Teague Platinum XR and they shipped a couple bottles of Amsoil w/ the drive. The Amsoil stuff looks like a very watery viscosity. I don't think I'll be using it. I've read in the past that Bob Teague likes Redline, what gives?

Is the Mercury "Hi Performance" gear oil synthetic? It doesn't say so on the bottle. Just says part #92-850743A 1

Doesn't have any kind of ratings or GL this or that on it. Reminds me of Harley Oil. It doesn't have any ratings on it ether. Just says that it is the best for the application.

I use the Mercury Hi-Performance Gear oil, but am thinking of switching to the Redline product.

I know Redline Shockproof Heavy is a recommended lube.
Which Royal Purple product is the correct one?
