Default What prop do I use?

I have a 21'4" Baja Hammer with the 310 MPI and 23 Pitch Mirage Plus that I was hitting the rev limiter last summer. I have purchased a 25 Mirage Plus labbed by Mercury from a board member. I know that my motor might have some trouble pulling it but I planned to make some upgrades. I have since ordered another motor that is supposed to put out 525 HP. The builder thinks I should try the 25. What do you guys think? The boat's advertised weight is 2900 lbs. It would seem with almost 200 HP more than I have, It would require more than just the next pitch up. The builder says the motor is designed to rev at 5400. Obviously I will try the 25 unless it is likely to be way off. Your opinions would be appreciated.

Try the 25 and go from there. Use it as a baseline for further testing. The labbed 25 will probably spin 200+/- rpms faster than a 24 Bravo 1.

That prop will spin faster or about the same as a 26 bravo 1. Bravo 1's are light on the pitch.

I bet your light hull will rip with that prop

Just my .02

Ray, you should try the 25 first and see how it does. It may have 525hp, but what does it have for torque. What is your revlimiter set at? You may need to raise it for the new motor if it is to low, but I think the 25 will be close. Being labbed and 3 blade it will go faster than a 26Bravo, therefore rpms will be higher or about the same as a 26. It should have enough power to come out the hole good also. Just going to have to test it and see.

Great Advice! I would test the 25P and go from there. The Bravo's are not true to the marked pitch....but the Mirages are. Record your WOT and MPH and we can go forward from there!
