Question EGT and Fuel Return

Hey,

Wanted to see if anyone could clarify a few things for me. I'm having a M-3 Procharger system setup with the Arizona Speed and Marine kit (i.e. 50lb injectors, 2-bar map sensor, ECU programming, etc.). According to the shop where I have the boat ASM told them sine I was going to the larger injectors you don't run a return fuel line to the gas tank????? True????

Also I have dual Pyrometers install (inserted just below the riser on EMI exhaust) and on the test run the temp quickly ran up to 1350-1400 degrees. Seemed to high to fast (especially with an intercooler) so the test was stopped until we can make a few calls Monday. Any thoughts? Is this to high a temp and should it run up fast?

Thanks in advance for the help…….

Oh, the setup is on a 502 EFI, MSD ignition, EMI exhaust, ASM kit and M-3 Procharger……

These FI fuel systems regulate fuel pressure by bleeding of fuel so I think you will have to have a return line for the fuel somewhere!!
The exhaust temps are a little high, but not too bad for FI. Running up quickly is normal, just be sure they don't build much higher. The intercooler doesn't affect the exhaust temps. The combustion temps are what causes the exhaust temps.

Blown1500,

Thanks for the info. I haven't checked the setup myself yet, but my understanding is that the shop ran the return stock (?). As with the stepping regulator and stock injectors it would run to the tank, does that sound right?

If you are running the Aeromotive pump with a "t" in the inlet port, this is a problem. Aeromotive says that this will lead to the aereation. heating, of the fuel. They beleive too high risk for pump failure. I took their word for it and returned to the tank via the fuel fill hose. 2" metal pipe with a brass fitting brazed in. Call Aeromotive. they are good to deal with and will explain their position. With that said there are people who have run this set up with no problems. Eric
