Question Prop for 29 Fountain w/ 525 SC

Just bought a 29 Fountain Fever w/ a 525SC - the previous owner had a 29P 3 blade - claims that a 30P 4 blade will work better - I always thought that you decreased one pitch in going from a 3 to a 4 blade prop.....

anyone have a similar set up?

Default HOUSTON PROP

Try what you have and go from there,A four bld prop you usually dop down in pitch2" to account for the extra bld you are turning. Not alway's the case though, all boats and props tend to be a little different, even if they are supposed to be the same.

Stepped hull or Not?????

Sounds like too much prop to me. A guy at our marina has the same package with a stepped hull and I think he runs a 26 hydromotive Q IV.

A 29"-30" pitch prop with 1.5 gears should run in the 90mph range with the correct slip and a 525SC in a 29 Fountain with a 525SC will only run in the mid 70's.

Doug B - thanks for the confirmation - just what I thought. I am going to run the boat this weekend and then determine what, if anything, needs to be done.

Julie - thanks for the PM - we've met before at OPBA functions. Will definitely call on you guys once I am ready to start playing with the prop.

Griff - I agree, 30P is going to be too much wheel - the previous owner claims 80mph with the 3 blade - not sure - think that's a little aggressive.......

Thanks for the input.

I'd say a 28 Bravo or 27 Hydro would be a good start. I run both on my 27 Fever with Procharged 502.
