Buying a new compass today.
Looking at a Ritchee SS 1000.
White with Blue compass card.
Good? Bad? Is their a better one?
Buying it through Boater's World.
Anybody know a better deal. I need to buy one with in a week.

You can't go wrong with a Ritchee. Not the best, but still very good. They're standard equipment on most boats and I've never had problems.
If you want something top of the line, Weems and Plath make the finest compasses.

Expensive though.

Ritchie compass, and a GPS. I don't agree with the suggestion for a digital compass. The idea is redundancy. Why have an electronic compass, and an electronic nav device (GPS). A standard compass will always work.
