My buddy has a 288 that he bought new last season. It has a 490 H.O. for power. He loves the boat. This summer all of a sudden the warning buzzer goes off, and the engine drops rpm. All gauges read nomal, oil pressure, water temp, drive oil level, everything ok. It can be flat calm water, or going over some boat wakes. A local dealer put a tester on it but of course it wouldnt do anything while they tested it with the tester on the motor. Any of you guys experienced anything like this? Any suggestions will help. I am wondering if a screw has worked its way into the wiring harness and is shorting something out. Thanks inadvance for any suggestions.

BB, I have the same boat same power. Have your buddy read the owners manual under engine guardian it will tell him what the buzzers are monitoring. Rev. limiter, fuel pressure, water temp, oil pressure etc. are tested keep in mind that the ecu limits fuel to decrease rpm. At the rpm marine engines run its always a good idea to install a fuel gauge somewhere, best at the helm
