Default 2001 280 silencer engine hatch (HELP)

My engine hatch motor has stripped a gear and I have taken the screw type system out of the boat to see if I can repair it myself because dealer is so far away. I cant seem to remove the electric motor from the square tubing that it is mounted to. The motor is mounted to a screw type rod that runs down the square tubing. There must be a plastic gear in either the motor or the gear box that its connected to. Has anyone ever repaired one before, and if so can you please give me some details of what I must do. I have not found the stripped gear but I need to remove the motor so that I can find it. I would also like to know if this motor or gear is available anywhere other than powerquest.
Thanks: Martin Harrison

Scott, do you know who manufactures the one for Fountain? Mine has just about pucked on me and I think it is time to replace it with a quality ram from someone else. Just recently mine opens so slow, I might as well lift the hatch myself and drop it back down. Some times it does not work at all. If I flicker with the switch, it will work.

Hopefully PQ will find a quality manufacture of this ram because that is my only gripe on the boat. Unfortunately it is a part that is continually being used which does make for a happy customer.

If you happen to know who that is, let us know otherwise I will ask the Fountain boys.

Thanks

I have no idea just was impressed at the dock when I have seen them work. It may be the weight of our hatches has something to do with it Check out the Fountain Forum and let us know

Martin,
I had the same problem. From what I understand, they can't be fixed. Contact PQ and see if they will send you a new one.
