I hate to tell you this but I can do 73 with two people and a light load of fuel. I have a 502 mag with lightning headers, a blue printed prop and a modified ecu.

What is your rpms and what kind of prop are you running?

I have found that I seem to experience more chine walk when the water is flat and I do not have a co pilot. You may also want to check your steering.

Something is drastically out of wack here. Been there...83-85 on 630 H.P. Do you have hydraulic steering? If you don't...get it. I've been doing Velocity for 10 yrs....much more drivable and easier to keep squarely on the pad at speed. Propeller makes a huge diff in drivability @ speed in these boats! My '93 holding the nose up and going straight w/ no walk...low-mid 80's mph.

Did they up the rev limit on your ecu or is it at the Morc setting of 5050. If you can't turn the 26 at well over 5000 that should tell us something. I great guy for Velocity Prop help is Mike at Hall Propeller. Knows and races Velocity.

Rippem, what prop were you using, I would think that a 502 with a whipple should be turning a 28 or 29 at 5000 or more rpm. If I remember correctly Willerty was getting 82 on gps with his whippled 502 Mag.

Notice in the previous pic, the deck angle to the water..parallel.. the way Steve intended the design. Note also the water behind the boat..this is a 26' (280...yea.. ) in perfect trim @ speed! If your new to Velocity, don't confuse "chine walk" with "bow steer" from having the front of the pad too involved as speed gets up. You've got to have the cojones to put enough trim out at speed! As Steve would say "she needs to be a little higher" (in a southern drawl ) The power...

Padraig, I was spinning a modified 26" Hydro 5600. Bye the way...I just sold my 32' ....it was a great boat for six + seasons...I will miss her but it's time to move on.

Padraig....'35...38' something Formula or ??? There are alot of really strong buys out there, and money is cheap! Although I suspect there may be one more drop in consumer rates before this crazyness is over. What agreat time to be shopping clean buy/no trade. I sold the boat to another member of our powerboat club and OSO member "Bajadave"...I told him "you gotta change that handle man!" I believe he will. The boat is like new or better...never outside unless I was on it...and all kinds of nice upgrades throughout....
