Air voids
#1
Can anyone tell me how common air voids are in the gel coat? I have a couple and was wondering if this is common or is this a screw up in the manufacturing process? Thanks Dwight

It's inherit with the process. Not a problem as long as you repair them when they appear.

All of thee above sounds good to me. It is a inherent problem with the process and it is very common. If the manufacturer did not screw it up you would not have them but all boats do.
Make sure you fix them to keep the water out.

I foound one while waxing my boat for the first time, Saw what looked like a scratch started rubbing harder, pop I fould about a 2" dia x 1/2" deep pocket. It was above the rub rail. I had it fixed no-problem. Kind of a pain shelling out the $$$ to get it fixed though. But it was a used boat.
