Whats the "Real" length

On an outboard boat does LOA include the engines, or just the mount, or to the back of the transom if the engines are on a setback mount, or ???? Which 33-35' OBCC's are "really" 33-35' hulls???

Oh, and thanks Joker, Fever Mike, WickedWon, JGB and the rest of you culprets for getting me started on this. I really needed to start looking for a different boat <LOL>

Mike,
I've been looking to see what is in the used market that may match my price range <LOL>. Seems to be Avanti, Avance (I know they are now out of business), Scarab (been around a long time), Powerplay (a couple just at the top end of my possible range), and in the more traditional "fish" boats possibly Intrepid, and Marlago.
I really like the looks of the Catera (the 2003 I posted the picture of is close but probably still a little out of reach), but havn't called to find out any more details on them.
The Concept certainly look good, but havn't seen any 33' in my range and don't think a 30' would be big enough.

Man alot was lost in whatever happened to this site. Gregp I posted a few replies for you but they seem to have disappeared.
Basically, the LOA boat manufacturers use vary. My renegade 29 is a true 29 but could be considered a 31 or 32 by the contemporary LOA standards.
Oh and I think you could get into a nicely eqipped 29 Renegade for a little under 70K with twin 250s, and trailer included. Resale would be another issue all togther as folks are not that familiar with Renegade powerboats. I would expect them to be more visible in the coming years as folks get more interested in the crossover type boat. OF course it wouldn't even be a consideration if 29' is too small for what you are looking for.
As far as your interest in Catera it seems they have a similar hull to the Avance but definitly a different deck. apparantly the catera comes from the 33 tempest which originated from the scorpion 33-32? Boats of S Florida tend to have very interesting geneologies.
As for helping to get you looking for another boat, you can thank my friend Neil for getting me interested in the utility and ease of maintainance of the Crossover CC's. Just like Mike can't wait to get out of the bilge I can't wait to have quick clean ups and maintainance after a long day of boating instead of the other way around.
Good Luck in your search
Jim
Oh and BTW, Renegade was working on their 33 mold last time I checked on my boat's progress. It has the integrated bracket/platform and transom gate. I Don't know what the pricing is on that one. I kind of like the 29 for size as I can tow it places easier than something a bit bigger.

JGB - Thanks. I see some posts are missing from the threads too. I've never heard of Renegade. I "think" I want to stay at least a true 33-35', but will have to see how they ride.
