Default Hit stick or bark, speedo stopped working???

I must have hit a stick or wooden object... I found the inlet on the outdirve for the speedo on my bravo3 filled with wood. My speedo is stuck on 20mph while on the trailer. I tried to pull out as much off the wood as possible, but the speedo is still on 20mph... How do I correct this problem??

Buy a GPS Speedo. That will fix the problem.

Try and use a small piece of wire to snake up there. You can also some times use a drill bit to free it up.

I'm assuming that once I get it free, the speedo will drop to zero? Is there pressure in the line that is holding the speedo at 20mph?

Thanks for your thoughts guys!!!

Yes, there is water pressure in the line. You still have debris in there. You can use a thin drillbit if careful.

I had that happen to my current boat many times & as soon as I freed the line the water sprayed out & the speedo went back to zero.

I agree GPS is the only way to go..

After I got the wood out that was visible, I took a paper clip and unfolded it and started probing the water inlet. Kept turning it around and around sort of drilling into it, I could see little bits of wood coming out... finally some water and walah!!! Some water came out and the speedo dropped...... ... My boat isn't top end boat, I mainly view the speedo as a guage to tell me if it's running correctly or not...... so a gps isn't really warrented.. maybe next boat!!!! Thanks for everyone's comments!!!

glue a drill bit in a piece of wood dowel. Can jump in and use it while you are anchored if necessary. If you drop it, it will float to the top.
