****!ng Oil Fill Caps!
I have the old sbc valve covers that use a stuff in cap with the big rubber grommet, theese things are fukin worthless
I have replaced them 5 times in the past year and they still wont stay in
I have tried everythin I can think of to keep them in place with no luck even tried super gluing them
Anyone have any suggestions?? I am tired of blowing all my oil out the tops of my motors

Back in the 70's they had twist in metal caps. My '75 Vette has them.
Do you have much blow by??? Those caps really shouldn't blow out. A friend of mine had too much and screw in caps...it would blow his dipstick out about 2" and puke oil out the tube

Would be a good idea to check blow-by as stated earlier. I've got the push-ins on my 461s and they've never pushed out. The problem with too much blow by on marine engines is since the dipstick tube runs all the way to the bottom of the oil pan (so you can suck out the oil with a pump during oil changes) if blow-by is enough to push the dipstick out, it's going to puke oil out of the motor also. Be careful...

thanks guys, the blowby isnt really the issue, I have a hard enough time just getting theese things to stay in place without the engines running, add to it a little heat, and a hard offshore pounding and thats all it takes for theese things to pop out

Bite the bullet and buy the good push in oil caps from GM. The rubber aftermarket junk caps become hard after a short time and fall out easily (as you have found out!). The rubber GM built caps stay soft and last forever. Take it from an ex- GM partsman.
