Any one put trim tabs on a 25' Eagle. For a 25, this boat handles very well, but I'm wondering if tabs would allow me to run faster in poker runs and other rough conditions? I can run 65 to 70 alright but when I get rollers from the side, the pitch side to side makes me pull back. Eric

I have also noticed the same thing with the 25 Eagle...I think it's inherent in the design of the boat as it likes to run on the back pad at that speed. The boat does like to chine walk at higher speeds. I've seen a huge difference in handling by adding twin-ram external steering! What prop are you running? I've tried hydromotive and bravo one 4 blades.....the hydro is tricky to get out of the hole with a boat-full of people/coolers/etc. I really like the handling of the Bravo over the Hydro as the hydro likes to lift the rear and level out the front....the bravo doesn't lift the rear and will lift the bow with trim.

I've got external steering, just single ram but it really helped. I run a 30p Bravo I. Greg do you have tabs? I don't know what your experience is, but this hull really did as well as much larger boats in the poker run. It flew level and handled the very large rollers much better than I thought, surprised some larger fountains. I would have been more comfortable if side to side movement was less? What has been your experience?

Wow Ky,
sorry I didnt see your post. No tabs here but Im wondering If I should have them? It skips on top now. How much power do you have o that hull? A 30 inch is big! I run a 28 and tach out about 6000, but the acceleration is awesome and they say that is easier on the drive. The 30 on my combo runs 54-5500 rpm. I have a 1.5 ratrio in the drive and you? Greg

Greg,
How did you end up doing this year on the top end? Are you pretty much dialed in at this point or are you still tweaking? Any plans this winter for the boat? I'm going through a divorce and she's being quite nasty...figures too as she was the one having the affair....and of course, she wants the boat as well. UGH!
KY, I'm running 500HP behind a 1.5 beefy bravo with a 26 labbed hydromotive 4-blade and am hitting exactly 80 on the GPS. I liked the handling characteristics of the Bravo One 4-blade and was able to turn a 28 to about 5000.
I don't have near the HP that Greg does with his boat but I know what you mean about side-to-side at high speed. I went with dual ram external steering and it helped stability for me tremendously. Once the boat gets into the 70's it really doesn't like rough water (at least that's been my experience).

Hello Guy's, I'm curious about the tabs also.
FYI my 28 does the same thing as the 25 at 80mph. Maybe not as bad but it is there. Trim makes a lot of difference, but if I trim down I loose a lot of speed. My buddy has a 25 and it handles as good as my 28. Eliminator did a good job on the 25.

I'm considering a used '98 Eagle closed bow to drop my 800 hp ProCharger motor into. This boat has full hydraulic steering (dual ram) and 280S Merc tabs.
Any input on how this hull handles at or above 90 mph? I'd love to go with a Daytona, but don't have the budget for that this season.

Volvo, I havn't talked to anyone that is going that fast in a 28, but I think you will not have any problems. The chine walk will get your attention if you hit a side wave and you are on the pad, but I have been in a lot worse boats. Trim seems to make all of the difference in the world and if you are quick on the down trim, the chine walk is minimal. Several guy's are running 23-25 eagles that fast, so the 28 should be no problem. Tabs will help also. I would like to know how it runs with 800hp.

I have 25 Eagle w/blown 510 that runs just south of triple digits...
I have a set of 280-s K-tabs with full hydraulic steering.
My 3rd Eagle, and at 85 and above tabs are a must.
In rough water feed it some tab, bury the nose and the boat is an animal...a good friend has a 27 Fountain and HE says that my Eagle is better in rough water.
I can outrun him(he runs a blown 540)pretty easily...
I have driven a 28 Eagle with a blown Paul Pfaff 582.
That platform is so sweet at 85,you feel like you are on a sunday cruise.
The 28 is stupid proof til about 90+,then you have to start paying attention...
