I bushed and o-ringed my stock merc distributors and they worked fine. If you do it, remember to drill a tiny hole down from the oil journal to oil the gear.

Formula 31... I know of the bushings you refer to... but where does the o-ring reside?

Actually 2 o-rings. The distributor lower body had 2 cast collars that the oil supply for the lifters runs between. I think the MSD distributor has these collars fitted with o-rings too. The o-rings just cut down on the oil loss in a stock distributor to the lifters/push rods/rockers. The little hole allows some oil to lub the dost gear. Ut might be overkill. Im sure somebody has an opinion on it. I figure it was a good idea. I had the equipment to do it, so why not.
