Question OT - iPod or Nomad

I want to get a 20-30 GB hardrive audio player. Which one is better? (sound and ease of use) Anybody have one? I have heard the Apple iPod is the way to go but the Nomad is almost 100 bucks cheaper.

That Jukebox Archos is decent. Battery life sucks though, about 4 hours. Comes with rechargables and charger. Hell, I have a 6 gig one I will sell, my charger broke though.

Archos has a model that plays VCD/DVD formats and pictures.

I have no idea what you guys are talking about. I really don't care either (I don't mean that condescendingly). I guess I'm like my parents used to be when I started talking about some new tech product that was beyond their "time"!! I guess I'm an obsolete old fart already...sheesh, that was quick too, I didn't even make it to 50

ipod without a doubt. I bought one of the very first ones over 2 years ago and it still works perfect. It is an amazing little gadget and is so easy to use. I have close to 2,000 songs on mine and still have room. I also have an Archos and it is a piece of crap, hard to use and is a brick. No doubt, the ipod is the ONLY way to go.

Thanks for all the input. I'll get the iPod. Anybody think I'll have a problem driving two sets of Bose noise-cancelling headphones at the same time?

Bottom line here the iPod is the best choice, however as far as AIFF files being better quality sound than MP3s this is very dependant on the bitrate recorded. I have heard some pretty crappy AIFFs too.

Get the iPod.

Then if you get a Mac and a dv camera you can mix
em together and get this.. Here's a quick movie of
a sweet Fountain Fever I got to play with last weekend. Click here to download 7mb Quicktime Fever 32' movie

Love the toys!
