Default Insurance...SoFLA...older boat?

Not having much luck finding insurance for a 1982 Corsa (low-performance, $11k agreed value) in coastal South FLA, other than Progressive. They would like for me to bend-over at the rate of $2600.00/yr! (I can insure a $200,000 house near the ocean for $1200/yr.).

Suggestions from local boater's greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

D. Ocean

Progressive is usually the lowest. Do you have a bad driving record or something? Mine is thru them (1988 Cig. Bullet 70K value) and is $1020/year!

Craig

Maybe it is due to living in Fla.? I know that they won't insure in NJ.

It's definately FL. It's one of the highest in the nation for boat insurance. I pay more than double than some people do on boats twice the size and value elsewhere in the nation.

Perfect driving record. No claims, tickets or accidents in 20 yrs.

I understand FLA is high, but $2600? That is more than my auto AND homeowner's policy combined!!!

Out of curiosity, just completed an on-line app for auto insurance w/Progressive. They are TRIPLE $$$ for auto over what I'm paying now.

Leads on any other carriers for SoFLA are greatly appreciated.

I'm insured through AAA. It's not an ols boat (2003 Baja Outlaw 20) but I only pay $528 a year. Don't know if they do older boats or not.

I do not believe AAA writes policies in SoFLA (at least for boats).

Thanks,
