Default Bullet proff it please...

I read in a trade magazin for the boating industry that if purchased in larger quantities that Kevlar is now 1/4th the price it was a few years ago and if the industry switched to Kevlar completely that it would be the same as good quality glass....it cuts the weight by like 15% or more...can do light layups....

Kevlar is a PITA to work with compared to glass or even carbon.

Yes it is. Harder to cut, harder to make go around bends and harder to saturate with resin. So even if the cost of the glass goes down then the labor costs will go up.

Can't the kevlar be incorporated with the glass... don't make the entire boat out of kevlar... but just add a lamination here and there to strengthen?

I was under the impression that it was done that way already.
